10 Resources to Help Grow Generosity in Your Church

As the holidays approach and everyone gets into the festive spirit, generosity increases. In fact, 30% of all faith-based giving occurs in the last quarter of the year with 17% happening in December alone.

Being church leaders, we know that generosity isn’t something we want from people—it’s something we want for people because we know first-hand how God changes lives through acts of generosity.

As you enter into end-of-year giving, we’ve compiled 10 helpful resources to help grow generosity in your church.

10 must-have generosity resources:

1.  Leading New Believers Through Tithing

We’re very strategic in how we communicate about giving, especially to new attenders and new believers. In this training post, we discuss this strategy and our heart behind how we approach the concept of tithing.

2.  This Is What We Do

In a recent sermon series, Pastor Craig explored the joy of giving and moving from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance. With three weeks of content, this resource explores how generosity and giving are foundational parts of who we are as Christians.

3.  The Take Back Offering

At Life.Church, we believe in being irrationally generous and blessing those in need. During a few weekend services each year, first-time attenders are often shocked when campus pastors say, “As the offering bucket passes, any adult who is in immediate need of food or shelter can take back any loose cash from the bucket and let God meet your needs that way.” We call this the “Take Back Offering,” and this post goes in depth about our heart behind it.

4.  Making Change

Need a good message series on generosity? A four-part message series, “Making Change,” covers biblical principles on finances. Good financial decisions lead to more peace and less stress, and Week 3 of this series features a deep dive on how we can grow in generosity.

5.  Be Generous & 10/10/80

Giving isn’t just for adults, so this list wouldn’t be complete without resources for young people. These two series—one each for Elementary and Youth audiences—set a foundation for giving by encouraging students that we can be generous no matter our age.

6.  Three-Month Tithe Challenge Card

The Three-Month Tithe Challenge is based on the promises of God in Malachi 3:10 – “Test me in this and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to store it.”  Life.Church challenges attenders to start giving 10% and allowing God to bless the rest. Our commitment is that if someone tithes for three months and God doesn’t hold true to his promise of blessing, we will refund 100% of the tithe. Use this downloadable seatback card to kick off your own challenge.

7.  Giving & Stewardship Tips

Talking about giving in church can be a delicate subject to navigate and can have many stigmas attached to it. In this jam-packed two minute video, hear from a Life.Church campus pastor on how to approach the topic of faithful giving and generosity.

8.  One Shift to Make When Talking about Giving in Your Church

As we just mentioned, it can feel a bit awkward to talk to your church about why they should open up their pocketbooks. In this blog post, however, learn how to shift the narrative away from what you want from your attenders and instead to what you want for them.

9.  Financial Peace University Resources

Being on solid financial footing provides an excellent foundation for generosity.  Filled with training videos, a message series, and a small group curriculum, these resources can help unlock the giving potential of your church.

10.  How to Plan Your Year-End Giving Campaign Bundle

In order to make the most of year-end giving, your church needs a plan. With this teaching video and strategy guide from our partner, Kindrid, you can equip yourself with everything you need to close out the year strong.

Whether you’re rediscovering some of these resources or finding them for the first time, we hope they help maximize the faithful giving of your attenders during the holiday season and throughout the year.
