How This Church Has used Open Network to Reach People During the Pandemic

Here’s just one story of a church using free Open resources to reach people in Hong Kong.

Meet Pastor Steve.

Pastor Steve Fischer and his family have been missionaries in Hong Kong for 17 years. Their church, Faith Family Church, was growing steadily until the Coronavirus outbreak.

“Hong Kong is like no other city in the world. It’s the only ‘religiously free city’ in China, so it is like a lighthouse shining the Gospel into China,” Pastor Steve told us.

But, with the Chinese government telling people to stay home and limit human interaction, the church started online services rather than close entirely. The only problem? How to keep children engaged in the church.

So, the Fischers got creative and added a 20-minute children’s service to their online services. They combined a short lesson from their children’s director with Bible Adventure videos and other resources from Life.Church Open Network. With these free resources, Faith Family Church saw online service participation grow to more than 800 families, with children learning about Jesus and the Bible from the safety of their homes!

“The most fulfilling thing in our ministry is seeing someone who is steeped in a culture that loves money, actively following Buddha, or completely unfamiliar with Jesus, come to know Him and begin to grow spiritually,” said Pastor Steve. And, it’s happening in spite of the outbreak and fear because of this church’s creativity and free resources from Open Network.
